Al Power-Con 2019, la convention dedicata a Masters of the Universe che si è svolta questo fine settimana ad Anaheim, in California, è stato annunciato che Kevin Smith sarà lo showrunner e il produttore esecutivo di Masters of the Universe: Revelation, una nuova serie anime Netflix che fungerà da sequel della serie animata originale degli anni ’80.

La serie sarà prodotta da Mattel Television. Rob David, VP di Mattel TV e autore del fumetto He-Man: the Eternity War sarà il produttore esecutivo
Eric Carrasco (Supergirl), Tim Sheridan (Reign of the Supermen), Diya Mishra (Magic the Gathering) e Marc Bernardin (Alphas) saranno gli sceneggiatori. La serie sarà realizzata da Powerhouse Animation che ha già realizzato Castlevania per Netflix.
Kevin Smith, fumettista e regista di Clerks, Dogma e Generazione X, scriverà anche la serie animata di Howard the Duck per Marvel e Hulu. Il suo nuovo film, Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, uscirà il prossimo 15 ottobre negli USA.
Netflix ha già prodotto la serie animata She-Ra e le Principesse Guerriere, giunta alla terza stagione, ma non avrà nulla a che vedere con la serie di Kevin Smith.
